Charleston, SC

We had a wonderful vacation in Charleston, South Carolina this week!
Day 1:
We took our time getting down to Charleston. Rob had to be in court first thing in the morning, so we dropped him off at the courthouse on our way to the children's library downtown. It was our first visit to the children's library and we had a wonderful time. We never even got to read any books; they have so many things for the kids to do there! In the hour were were there we only did about half the activities they have offered. After picking up Rob from court we ate breakfast at Dunkin Doughnuts before beginning our trip south. We stopped halfway at a Barnes and Nobel bookstore to let the kids stretch their legs looking at books and playing with the train table and also went to Cracker Barrel for lunch; as soon as we pulled in the parking lot Michael started yelling, "Mac-Mac! Mac-Mac!" We rarely go to restaurants except for when Mom and Dad take us, so Michael expected Grandma and Mac-Mac to be at the restaurant.
We made it to Charleston and stopped at a car dealership where Rob bought himself a new truck! That was actually the motivation for our trip, Rob has been looking for a new truck for quite sometime. He found "the one" in Charleston at a great price, so we decided to make a vacation out of picking it up. While Rob checked out the truck, took it for a test drive and bought it the kids and I went to check in to our hotel. The hotel may have been the kids favorite part of the whole trip- they loved that we all slept in the same room, and had many cartoons available to watch. The girls even begged to do school on their beds in the evenings while we were there.
Day 2:
The children loved riding on the trolley from the visitor center in historic Charleston-Michael thought it was a train. We spent the morning walking through the market on our way to Waterfront park.
We all love watching the boats from Waterfront park.
Michael also loved chasing the pigeons. He wanted to "hold her" and "rub her." Thankfully the pigeons were faster than he was!Then we went to get some pictures near the pineapple fountain. Michael did not want to participate in picture taking; he was too busy playing and exploring.
After lunch we went walking to look at all the beautiful houses.

Day 3:

We spent our last day at the SC aquarium. Michael was fascinated by all the fish- he keep squealing as he would run from tank to tank to see each new thing.

The aquarium has 2 children's play areas that we really enjoyed as well.
After eating at a wonderful restaurant (California Dreaming) where the children were able to watch boats coming up and down the Ashley River we started our long trip back home. We ended up in a lot of traffic due to fog, but we finally got back to our house.
