Easter!

I believe we had the best Easter ever this year. I am sad Rob missed it!

First the Easter bunny came:

Miriam and Rebekah could not wait to get downstairs on Easter morning. Michael was still sleeping, but we went downstairs anyway. First the girls found the Easter eggs that the Easter Bunny had hidden for them. Miriam quickly started grabbing eggs and throwing them into her bag. Then she noticed that Rebekah wasn't getting any eggs yet, so she began helping Rebekah find some eggs. After picking up just a few they remembered that Michael was still upstairs sleeping, so they quickly filled his Easter bag with some of the hidden eggs to make sure he also got some eggs. It was the sweetest thing!

Once the hidden eggs were found the girls sat down to go through their baskets. Rebekah immediately found her chocolate bunny. She didn't care about anything else in her basket; she just wanted to go eat that bunny. I think Easter must be Rebekah's favorite holiday- the only day of the year that she gets chocolate candy for breakfast! I tried to get her to at least look at her other things before eating--so she took her bunny over to G.G. to be opened since Mommy wouldn't do it.

After eating their chocolate bunnies for breakfast Michael finally woke up to look through his basket.We weren't expecting to go to church. G.G. hurt her back and has trouble sitting in the hard pews. However when Miriam found out we weren't going to church she was quite upset. So we quickly got ready to go. Church was great. The kids got to experience Children's time up front for the first time. Then they got to have yet another Easter egg hunt at the church playground after the service. Michael was tired and ready for nap, so he missed the 3rd Easter egg hunt of the weekend.Grandma left some filled Easter eggs for the children, so after nap on Easter I hid them in G.G's yard. Finally Michael got to participate in a hunt. He took his bag and the Easter egg I gave him. However instead of hunting Easter eggs he decided to hunt sticks! Oh well!

After the hunt the children decided to look in their eggs. Miriam's first one had a Cadbury egg inside. Rebekah's first egg had stickers, which she promptly threw down to try for chocolate in another egg. Her next egg held hair bows, again not happy with the contents she dropped them to try again. Finally she found her own Cadbury egg and was quite pleased with herself!Ginny, Donald, Jason and his dog Lynx came over to play. The kids had a great time throwing sticks for Lynx, playing baseball, and playing in the dirt.

After playing they got to get in the truck with Ginny and Donald to go to their farm across the road. Ginny and Donald took the kids every night to their house to cut apples for the donkey "Jack". They'd then go riding through the fields to watch the cows and feed the donkey. Miriam was even allowed to steer the truck and help change the gears! They had a wonderful time and did not want to come home to NC. Rebekah kept trying to negotiate one more visit to Ginny's farm the morning we left. First she begged to go see 5 cows, when I said "no" she tried again saying, "Mommy, I go see just 3 cows, then I come back!" Miriam kept asking, "when are we going to move back to Virginia?"

It was a wonderful visit! The last night Rob took the girls over to Ginny and Donald's. Here they are all piled in the truck (then they added Ginny and Donald too!)
