Reading!

Miriam is learning to read! She can sound out and read almost any three letter word. Here is a video of her reading one of the first books she was able to sound out all by herself!! She is so excited that she will soon be able to read "everything!" We're officially on summer break from homeschooling, but Miriam asks to work on her reading most every day. She also has an incredible memory for spelling. She can write "Grandma", "Marley", "I love you", "castle", and all the names in our family all by herself!

Here is a video of Rebekah. She really wants to learn how to read like her big sister. So far she knows several letter sounds. As you can see from her video she also knows to point to each word as she says it. That's a really advanced skill for a 3 year old; I'm so proud of her! She can identify most written numbers up to 15 too- and can count past 20!

What a joy it is to watch the girls learn these new skills and to see the happiness it brings them to learn! I hope they are always so enthusiastic about reading!
